| Project Name: | Revitalization of Central Energy Plant #2 |
| Client: | Department of the Army |
| Location: | Fort Jackson, South Carolina |
| Magnitude: | $9 Million |
|
The project consisted of replacing five existing steam boilers in Central Energy Plant #2 with five hot water generating boilers (converting the existing steam heating to medium temperature hot water heating), replacing existing steam boilers utilized for cooking in 8 kitchen/dining facilities on base, and constructing a new 2,500 sf boiler room addition to provide steam to the Montcreif Army Community Hospital. A three mile underground distribution system consisting of 10" welded steel pipe in a reinforced cast-in-place concrete trench was installed from Central Energy Plant #2 to 40 different buildings on Base, including six battalion sized barracks. David Boland, Inc. worked closely with the Base personnel to bring the boilers on-line, route the trench, and schedule tie-ins, outages, and road cuts.
