Building for Increased Performance
Laughlin Air Force Base is home to the 47th Flying Training Wing of the Air Education and Training Command. The wing commands a flying operation which exceeds 80,000 flying hours and 54,000 sorties per year. It is composed of more than 1,400 military personnel, 1,360 civilian employees, and a total base community exceeding 4,300 people. The wing’s mission is to conduct specialized undergraduate pilot training for the United States Air Force, Air Force Reserve, Air National Guard, and allied nation air forces utilizing the T-6, T-38, and T-1A aircraft while deploying mission-ready Airmen.
Project Details
Assisting in the physical training of these airmen, we constructed a new fitness center and health and wellness center. The facility includes an indoor six lane 25-meter competitive swimming pool, three racquetball courts, multi-court gymnasium, weight room, aerobic areas, special class and function rooms, an elevated running track, and a juice bar. Additionally, the locker rooms include steam rooms and saunas. Special systems include HVAC with a dehumidification air handling unit for the indoor swimming pool with corrosion resistant ductwork.
