 Building Transition for Future Readiness

Army Aviation Support Facility's Logo

In support of the Missouri National Guard’s 1-135th Attack Reconnaissance Battalion’s transition into the Army National Guard’s sixth AH-64D Apache Longbow unit, Boland constructed this operations and maintenance facility. The 1-135th Attack Reconnaissance Battalion is part of the 35th Combat Aviation Brigade and the Army Aviation Support Facility serves the unit as a center for operations as well as intermediate and depot level aviation maintenance. The AH-64 Apache is the Army’s heavy division/corps attack helicopter and conducts deep strikes and strikes against relocatable targets with precision.

Project Details

The facility is 82,100 square feet and includes space for flight planning and operations, pilot offices, training, administration, as well as aircraft storage and allied maintenance workshops. The hangar portion is 39,900 square feet of clear span space and can enclose eight AH-64 Apache aircraft with the associated work clearances. Specialized building support systems include a hydronic hot and cold water HVAC system and a low-level, high-expansion foam fire suppression system. The project also included 71,400 square yards of rigid airfield pavement, 20,500 square yards of flexible pavement, and airfield lighting and guidance signs.
