The 482nd Security Forces Squadron’s mission is to secure and defend Homestead Air Reserve Base. The squadron is part of the 482nd Fighter Wing located at Homestead Air Reserve Base and is responsible for protecting the base’s military personnel, resources, weapons systems, and air base assets.

PROJECT DETAILS

This design-build effort involved the design, demolition, and construction (renovation) of the existing, approximately 6,600-square-foot, building, as well as the design and construction of a new, approximately 450-square-foot, addition to the existing Security Forces building located at Homestead Air Reserve Base in Florida.
Functional areas of the renovated and expanded facility include weapons vault, training / briefing room, unloading and cleaning room, orderly room, police services rooms, operations superintendent room, physical and electronic security room, commander room, BDOC room, operations officer room, training specialist room, shift specialist room, interview room, evidence room, lobbies, vestibules, men’s, women’s, and unisex restrooms, locker rooms, janitor’s closet, break room, mechanical room, electrical room, communications room, and audio / visual closet.

SUSTAINABILITY

This project included incorporating principles of sustainability to meet the program needs by complying with the high performance and sustainable building (“HPSB”) Guiding Principles requirements.
