Ensuring the Fitness and Readiness of our Military Personnel

The 482nd Medical Squadron’s mission is to ensure that military personnel are medically fit and ready for their missions. The squadron is part of the 482nd Fighter Wing located at Homestead Air Reserve Base in Florida and is responsible for conducting training to improve battlefield casualty care and ensuring military personnel are medically fit for duty.
PROJECT DETAILS
This design-build effort involved the design, demolition, and construction (renovation) of the existing, approximately 14,100-square-foot, building, as well as the design and construction of a new, approximately 4,200-square-foot, addition to the existing Medical Facility building located at Homestead Air Reserve Base in Florida.
Functional areas of the renovated and expanded facility include open office areas for various client functions, classrooms, examination rooms, flight surgeon’s room, medical records room, waiting rooms, nurse rooms, art rooms, drug waiting and reduction areas, collection areas, dental exam rooms, optometry room, immunization rooms, lab technician rooms, hazardous storage, medical supply storage, lobbies, corridors, men’s and women’s restrooms, storage areas, administration, communications room, mechanical room, electrical room, conference room, reception area, break room, along with other incidental spaces.
SUSTAINABILITY
This project included incorporating principles of sustainability to meet the program needs by complying with the high performance and sustainable building (“HPSB”) Guiding Principles requirements.
